The Wheel of Time Books in Order

The Wheel of Time Series is one of the most ambitious and influential works of epic fantasy ever written, created by Robert Jordan (James Oliver Rigney Jr.) and completed after Jordan's death by Brandon Sanderson from Jordan's extensive notes and outlines. The series is set in a vast, meticulously constructed world where time moves in cycles — Ages rise and fall, legends become myths and myths become legends — and the central force of magic, called the One Power, is divided between a male half (the saidin) and a female half (saidar). Centuries ago, the male half was tainted by the Dark One, causing male channellers to go mad and devastating the world; the story begins as the effects of that cataclysm still shape every political and social structure that exists.

The series follows Rand al'Thor and his companions from the village of Emond's Field as they discover that Rand is the Dragon Reborn — the reincarnation of the man who both saved and broke the world in a previous Age, and the only person who can face the Dark One when he breaks free from his prison. The cast expands enormously across the series to encompass dozens of major characters, multiple political factions, and a world of staggering geographical and cultural breadth.

Comprising 14 novels (plus a prequel novella) published from The Eye of the World (1990) through A Memory of Light (2013), the series is a complete, finished work of enormous scope. The Amazon Prime Video adaptation has introduced the world to a new generation of readers. Essential reading for any fan of epic fantasy — alongside Tolkien and Martin, Jordan's world is one of the genre's foundational achievements. Must be read in order from book one.
