Biography
Theo Faber is an ambitious and complex forensic psychotherapist who becomes the primary narrator of 'The Silent Patient'. He works at The Grove, a high-security forensic unit in North London, where he becomes obsessed with the case of Alicia Berenson, a famous painter who shot her husband five times in the face and hasn't spoken a word since.
As Theo tries to unravel Alicia's silence, we discover he carries his own heavy burden of childhood trauma and a turbulent personal life. His clinical approach is unconventional, often bordering on the unethical, driven by a desperate need to 'save' his patient in order to perhaps save himself. Theo represents the duality of the healer who remains profoundly broken, a man whose professional objectivity masks a chaotic inner world.
