Roland Deschain

Roland Deschain is the last Gunslinger and the solitary, obsessed hero of Stephen King's landmark 'The Dark Tower' series — King's magnum opus spanning eight volumes. A descendant of Arthur Eld (King Arthur), Roland inhabits a world that has 'moved on,' a dying alternate reality connected by invisible threads to dozens of other King novels and universes. His life is consumed by one mission: reach the Dark Tower, the nexus of all realities, before it falls. Stoic, frequently ruthless, and haunted by the loved ones lost to his obsession, Roland collects companions along the way — his 'ka-tet' — and slowly rediscovers his own humanity. He remains one of King's most complex and philosophically rich creations.
