Frodo Baggins

Famous Character Created by J.R.R. Tolkien

Biography

Frodo Baggins, a Hobbit of the Shire, is the unlikely hero at the center of "The Lord of the Rings." Orphaned at age 12 and adopted by his cousin Bilbo Baggins, Frodo inherited a mysterious golden ring. When Gandalf revealed its true nature as the One Ring of Sauron, Frodo courageously volunteered to carry it to Mordor to ensure its destruction.

Frodo’s journey was one of spiritual and moral endurance. Accompanied by his loyal gardener Samwise Gamgee, he resisted the Ring’s corrupting influence through the treacherous Dead Marshes and into the heart of the shadow. His mercy toward Gollum proved crucial, as Gandalf had foreseen. Despite being mentally and physically scarred by the journey, Frodo reached the Cracks of Doom. Though the Ring claimed his will at the final moment, his previous acts allowed for its ultimate destruction. Unable to fully recover from the toll of the Quest, Frodo documented his journey in the Red Book of Westmarch before being granted the honor of sailing to the Undying Lands, proving that even the smallest creature can change the world through sacrifice and resilience.
