About the Author
Richard Osman is a British television presenter, producer, and author who became one of the UK's most successful debut novelists with the launch of The Thursday Murder Club in 2020. Born in Billericay, Essex, in 1970, Osman is best known as the co-host of the BBC quiz show Pointless and as a creator and producer of numerous popular television formats. His transition from television personality to bestselling crime author was one of the most remarkable publishing stories of recent years.
The Thursday Murder Club, set in a retirement village in Kent, follows four unlikely friends—Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim, and Ron—who meet weekly to investigate cold cases, only to find themselves embroiled in a very real and very current murder. The series is celebrated for its warmth, wit, and its refreshingly original protagonists, who prove that age is no barrier to sharp minds and adventurous spirits. Osman's writing captures the rhythms of everyday life with affectionate humor while delivering genuinely clever mysteries.
The series became the fastest-selling debut crime novel in UK history and has since spawned multiple sequels, all of which have topped the bestseller charts. A film adaptation is in development. Osman's success has demonstrated the enormous appetite for cozy mysteries featuring older protagonists, and he has become a beloved figure in the British literary world. He lives in London.
