About the Author
Rebecca Yarros is a #1 New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author who has redefined the 'romantasy' genre for a new generation. With over twenty novels to her credit, she achieved unprecedented global success with the launch of the Empyrean series, beginning with 'Fourth Wing' in 2023. Her writing is celebrated for its high-stakes world-building, intense romantic tension, and its unflinching exploration of physical and emotional resilience. Yarros’s personal experience living with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome has profoundly influenced her work, most notably in the creation of Violet Sorrengail, a protagonist whose physical fragility is balanced by extraordinary mental fortitude.
Born into a military family in Washington D.C., Yarros’s life has been deeply shaped by service and sacrifice. Her husband’s twenty-year career in the Army, which included multiple deployments to Afghanistan, provided the emotional foundation for many of her early contemporary romance novels, such as the 'Flight & Glory' series. This background brings a raw, authentic edge to her depictions of love in the face of danger. Beyond her literary career, Yarros is a dedicated mother of six and a passionate advocate for children in the foster care system. In 2019, she and her husband co-founded OneOctober, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting foster children and their families.
Yarros’s impact on the publishing industry is immense; 'Fourth Wing' and its sequel 'Iron Flame' became cultural phenomena, dominating social media platforms like TikTok and revitalizing interest in adult fantasy romance. Her work has been translated into dozens of languages and has secured major adaptation deals. The Empyrean series is currently being developed into a major television series by Amazon MGM Studios, with Yarros serving as an executive producer. Residing in Colorado, she continues to craft stories that blend the epic scales of fantasy with the intimate complexities of the human heart, ensuring her place as one of the most influential storytellers of the modern era.
